1926 – 2016
BOSCAWEN, N.H. — Jean E. Cheeseman of Sabattus passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 9, at the age of 89.
Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Lewiston, she was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Currie) Coburn.
On July 20, 1946, she married her childhood sweetheart, Craig Cheeseman. He preceded her in death in 1997. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, David and wife, Muriel, of Turner, and Mark and wife, Jane, of Pembroke, N.H.; her brother, Johnny Coburn and wife, Carlene, of Sabattus; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Cheeseman and wife, Ivy, of Chiang Mai, Thailand; and Melissa Cheeseman of Pembroke, N.H.; two great-granddaughters, Karis and Amara Cheeseman of Chiang Mai, Thailand; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a devoted Christian woman who had a heart for Jesus and desired for others to love him and read his Word. She was a longtime member of South Lewiston Baptist Church and a member of the Gideon’s International Women’s Auxiliary. She was also very active for many years at Camp Berea in North Turner. Jean served as the Sabattus Elementary Librarian from 1964 to 1994, a job she loved, especially reading to and teaching the children.
While her family knows she is in heaven, she will be greatly missed here on this Earth.
