AUGUSTA — Edward Little High School collected its first girls’ lacrosse victory of the season with a 7-4 win over Cony on Thursday.

The game was tied 2-2 at the half before the Red Eddies (1-5) unloaded on the Rams (4-2) five goals in the second half.

Brooke Lever spearheaded EL’s offense, scoring three goals and Kaylee Jipson added two more and picked up an assist.

Megan Steele and Francesca-Beth Haines scored the other two goals.

For Cony, Savanna Poulin scored two goals and Anna Brannigan and Sarah Caron each added one.

Mt. Ararat 11, Oxford Hills 1

TOPSHAM — Ronni Pelletier scored four goals while Emily Welch added three to lead Mt. Ararat to an 11-1 girls’ lacrosse win over Oxford Hills Thursday.

Shannon Harty, Erin Tome, Fiona Hoang and Meghan Caouette also added goals for the Eagles (3-3).

Ally Hanley had the lone goal for the Vikings (0-6).

Eleanor Skinner and Casi Perow combined for seven saves for Mt. Ararat. Oxford Hills got four saves from Jayla Bray.

Softball

Greely 9, Poland 7

CUMBERLAND — Greely scored five runs in the second and two more in the third to build a sizable lead Thursday. Though Poland scored six in the final inning, the Rangers held on for a 9-7 win in Western Maine Conference softball.

Sarah Felkel had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Greely (6-3). Kelsey Currier had three hits, while Evan Carrell and Katie Currier also had a pair of hits. Poland (2-9) got two hits from Erin Brewer and Sydney Hudson.

Kelsey Currier scattered eight hits and struck out six to earn the win.

Greely 7, Poland 0

CUMBERLAND — Will Nelesk pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out six batters to lead Greely to a 7-0 win over Poland in Western Maine Conference baseball Thursday.

Greely scored five runs in the first two innings. Calvin Soule led the Rangers (5-2-1) with two hits and three RBI. Ryan Twitchell had a pair of hits and drove in a run.

Poland (2-9) got hits from Ben Bernir, Austin Love and Jake Wiseman.
