FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County has been awarded a two-year grant from the Maine Cancer Foundation to provide tobacco prevention and cessation programming.

The project is designed to promote and support tobacco-free lifestyles and decrease tobacco-related cancer incidence and mortality rates.

Individuals can contact and speak with the coalition’s trained staff professionals through a variety of options, including one-on-one meetings, group settings, or communications by telephone, text, or email.

This individualized method allows those in need of support to reach out when it is convenient and receive free local confidential support from professionals trained in tobacco cessation counseling. Continued support beyond the initial quitting period is offered to help individuals remain tobacco-free.

“Healthy Community Coalition is pleased to offer individualized ongoing support to members of our community,” Executive Director Jennifer McCormack said. “This service comes at no cost to individuals. Coalition staff is trained to counsel individuals to help them identify triggers and create a plan to break free from tobacco for a healthier life.”
