LINCOLN, Neb. — Anthony Skaleski of Winthrop has been awarded stipends by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to participate in research with a faculty mentor this summer.

Skaleski, a English major, will participate in the project “Interpretations of Unconformities within the Phosphoria Rock Complex and their Implications Toward Climate Change: Bighorn Basin Wyoming” as part of UNL’s Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experience Program, which supports undergraduates to work with faculty mentors in research or creative activities. 

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Emily Cormier of Mechanic Falls, a Health Sciences major at American International College, is one of the college’s 26 students who have been nationally recognized in the annual publication of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.”

EASTON, Mass. — Poland native Sally C. Littlefield, a member of the Class of 2017, was recently inducted into Stonehill College’s Lambda Epsilon Sigma Honor Society. Littlefield is a education and psychology major.

CANTON, N.Y. — Holland B. Gallup of Turner has been selected for membership in Gamma Sigma Alpha, the National Academic Greek Honor Society, at St. Lawrence University. Gallup is a member of the Class of 2017 majoring in biology. She graduated from Kents Hill School.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Sarah Small of Raymond, a member of the Assumption College Class of 2016, received the departmental awards for economics and women’s studies.

Small presented her research project “Breaking Down the Backlash Effect: Understanding the Domestic Abuse of India’s Working Women” at Assumption College’s 22nd Annual Undergraduate Symposium. Small investigated partner violence in India, where increasing numbers of women in the workforce have led to societal unrest. Her research examined the socioeconomic variables that make a working woman more or less likely to be abused, and found that organizations encouraging growth in female labor force participation, must also understand and encourage healthy household dynamics.

CANTON, N.Y. — Holland B. Gallup of Turner was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society.

Gallup is a member of the Class of 2017 and is majoring in biology. She graduated from Kents Hill School.

PARIS — Benjamin S. Andrews of Norway will receive National Merit Scholarship of $2,500. Andrews is a student at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School planning to major in mathematics. 

WATERVILLE — Levi Knapp of Jay has been named the Thomas Scholar for the undergraduate class at Thomas College. 

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Jillian Jacobs of Otisfield received the Class of 2016 Commencement Speaker Medal and delivered the senior commencement address, “Passion, Compassion, Humor and Style,” at the Colby-Sawyer College 178th Commencement on Saturday, May 7.

Jacobs studied business administration and is a Wesson Honors Scholar, a member of the Alpha Chi National Honors Society and Sigma Beta Delta, has been named to the dean’s list every semester and is listed in “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” Jacobs  received the Business Administration Baccalaureate Award at the Scholars and Leaders Award Ceremony on May 6.
