1967 – 2016
RUMFORD — Danny Lee Korhonen, affectionately known as “Disco Dan,” fought long and hard to be here for his beloved mother, Janice; however, he lost the battle to cancer Wednesday, May 4. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1967, the fifth child to Janice (Dewar) Korhonen and was educated in Rumford schools.
Danny was employed for several years with Mike Mills Landscaping prior to becoming disabled.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed watching Westerns and Chuck Norris movies, and watched Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman every day. Danny also loved playing softball, street hockey and fishing.
Surviving are his mother, Janice Korhonen and companion, Dale Pettegrow, of Rumford; brothers, Andrew Korhonen, Richard Korhonen, Michael Korhonen and Dale Korhonen, all of Rumford; sisters, Tina Blouin and husband, John, of Mexico, Brenda Bouchard and husband, Scott, of Rumford and Krystal Tastan of Mexico; and his best friends, Barry Touchette and Donna Bryant.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Korhonen in December 2015; his maternal grandmother, Iola Dewar; his maternal uncle, John Dewar; and his maternal aunt, Barbara Jamison.
