BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Mountain Valley scored five runs in the first and added four more in the second in a 12-1 win over Boothbay in a five-inning Mountain Valley Conference baseball game Tuesday.
Jacob Blanchard and Jon Adley had two hits each and drove in a run to lead the Falcons (4-7).
Starter Jacob Beauchesne (2-3) got the win and combined with Ethan Laubauskas to hurl a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and just one walk.
Boothbay (1-10) was down 12-0 before scoring its lone run in the fourth.
Valley 4, Rangeley 3
RANGELEY — Senior Cody Lawyerson ripped a pair of hits and came on in relief to carry Valley to a 4-3 victory over Rangeley in baseball action Tuesday afternoon.
The Cavaliers (6-1) made good use of five Rangeley errors, scoring runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings. Lawyerson struck out five in two innings of relief for Valley.
Junior pitcher Ricky Thompson provided two doubles and plated three runners for the Lakers (5-3).
Softball
Mountain Valley 25, Boothbay 1
BOOTHBAY — Winning pitcher Emily Laubauskas had six hits and five RBIs and Mountain Valley used 28 hits to overpower Boothbay 25-1 in a five-inning softball game Tuesday.
With a 12-0 lead after four innings, the Falcons (7-4) piled up another 13 runs in the fifth inning.
Abby Mazza, Karen Flaherty and Grace Briggs each had four hits. Sydney Petrie and Jordan Duguay each had three hits.
