BETHEL — The Oxford County Republican Committee awarded Markus C. Schneider the annual $500 Oxford County Young Republican Scholarship on May 10 at the Bethel Alliance Church on Route 26.

Schneider, an all-around student-athlete at Fryeburg Academy from Denmark, will graduate in June. He hopes to attend Bentley University in Massachusetts and major in international marketing.

He will receive the money once his first semester grades are received by the Scholarship Committee next winter.

Presenting the award was Tom Curtis, chairman of the Scholarship Committee. He was assisted in evaluating about two dozen applications by Ruth Feeney, Clarke Reiner, Tim Turner and Glen Holmes, all Oxford County Republicans.
