LISBON FALLS — Clarence Arnold Hammond, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 17, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Lisbon on Dec. 28, 1927, the son of the late George L. and Ann L. (Haliday) Hammond. Clarence grew up in Lisbon and stayed in the area in Lisbon Falls his entire life. On July 15, 1955, he married the love of his life, Patricia, and they shared a loving marriage of more than 61 years.

He worked as a carpenter for Walter Houston for more than 30 years, and subcontracted as well. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Clarence was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and camp on his time off. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife whenever they could. You could often find Clarence over in Roger Bickford’s garage, where Roger would work on his cars, while Clarence would hand him his tools and fill Roger in on the recent news around town.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Lisbon Falls; his five children, Mark Hammond and his wife, Kim, of Gallup, N.M., Scott Hammond of Lewiston, Kurt Hammond of Lisbon Falls, Pamela Hall of Lisbon Falls, and Frances Gauvin and husband, William, of Whitefield; his seven grandchildren, Logan Hammond, Benjamin Hall, Lindsey Beller, Alexander Hall, Hannah Tanguay, Alison Gauvin and Anne Gauvin; his three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Beller, Ostara LaFrance and Stella Beller.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his infant brother, Robert.
