1925 – 2016
AUGUSTA — Henry J. Arsenault, 91, formerly of Swift River Road in Mexico, a lifelong resident of the River Valley, passed away Tuesday, May 17, at Glenridge Long Term Care in Augusta, following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Mexico on Jan. 29, 1925, a son of Calais and Winnifred (Gaudet) Arsenault.
Henry was educated in Mexico schools. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He married Avis McMillan on Sept. 20, 1958, and they have celebrated 57 years of marriage together.
Henry was employed for more than 40 years with Boise Cascade Paper Co. and was a member of the 25- and 40-year clubs.
He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Henry loved hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and was a member of the Webb River Sportsman Club and the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.
Surviving are his wife, Avis (McMillan) Arsenault of Woodlands at Hallowell; three children, Mark A. Arsenault and wife, Lisa, of Mexico, Laurie Tilton and husband, Harvey, of Carthage, and Andrea Nadeau and husband, Andrew, of Windsor; two brothers, Urbain “Joe” Arsenault of Rumford and Benny Arsenault and wife, Celia, of Rumford; and a sister, Lorraine Poirier and husband, Bernard, of Rumford; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Raymond and Alvin Arsenault; and a sister, Mildred Jamison.
