1917 – 2016
NORWAY — Ruby Farline Sabine Bradbury went to be with the Lord; husband, Edwin; and young son, David, on Tuesday, March 22. She was staying with her granddaughter, Debra, in Norway at the time. She was surrounded by love and family as she peacefully transitioned from this life to the next.
Ruby was the daughter and second child of Harry D. Sabine and Mae Francis Wyman. She was born in Abbot on Feb. 5, 1917. She attended local schools until the family moved to Guilford when she was 10. She then worked to help support the family.
While working as a housekeeper in the Lewiston-Auburn area, she met, fell in love and married Edwin A. Bradbury on Sept. 29, 1935. They had two sons, Keith and David; and a daughter, Carol.
After their marriage, she worked as a presser for Cummings Cleaners in Auburn; then moved to Norge Village in Auburn and became the manager until her retirement.
Mom had many interests and hobbies. I don’t remember a time when she was not knitting or sewing, all for someone else; planning the garden, planting seeds and seedlings, tending and harvesting the vegetable garden, then canning for all of us; cooking for the family; or piling wood and tending the wood stove in the winter.
Ruby is survived by her son, Keith, and daughter-in-law, Lillian Bradbury, of Palmyra; daughter, Carol, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Debra Arsenault of Norway, JoEllen Labonte of Oregon, David Bradbury of Gray, and Naomi Francis of West Paris; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. The family is spread out across the country from Tennessee, Oregon, Washington and Utah.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Edwin; son, David; brothers, Dana and Ken Sabine; sister, Pearl; and her parents.
