1919 – 2016

WEST PARIS — Isabel N. Brown, 96, died Saturday, May 21, in West Paris surrounded by her family.

She was born in Carthage, Nov. 6, 1919, to Herbert R. and Verna (White) Noyes. Isabel graduated from Woodstock High School as the salutatorian in 1938 and nursing school at Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1969.

She started out working for Rumford Hospital, as well as Ledgeview Nursing Home in West Paris. She eventually owned and ran the Chapel Valley Boarding Home in West Paris for 16 years.

She was a very active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Woodstock. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking and her family. She married Daniel A. Brown on May 25, 1940, and they enjoyed a 69-year journey together.

Isabel is survived by her children, Aldis Locklin of Pepperell, Mass., Danny A. Brown of West Paris, Leanna Brown of Woodstock; and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; a sister, Alice Wortman of Hendersonville, N.C..; and a brother, Herbert Noyes of Westbrook.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2009; two sons, Ervin “Dickie” Brown and Baby Boy Brown; two sisters, Stella Buck and Helen Griffin.
