1938 – 2016

AUBURN — On Friday, May 20, Marion D. Gallant was called home to be with her beloved husband surrounded by her loving family.

Marion was born March 8, 1938, in Mechanic Falls to Bill and Vera Purington. She was educated in the schools there, graduating in 1956. She met the love of her life, Aubin Gallant, in November 1955 and they married June 30, 1956.

She worked in numerous shoe shops in the Lewiston area. After retiring, she baby-sat for many more years. She and Aubin welcomed a child in June 1959, the first of five they would be blessed with. Marion’s greatest love was her family. She was a social butterfly, making friends and stealing hearts wherever her radiant smile went. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing bingo, camping and Saturday night dances at Beaver Brook Campground in Monmouth.

She was a very active volunteer at Barker Arms in Auburn where she and Aubin resided for 25 years before moving to the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston for nearly a year.

She is survived by her children, Randall Gallant of Turner, Scott and his wife, Susan Gallant, of Lewiston, and Josie Frost and her, husband, Phillip, of Wilton; a son-in-law, Leo Duchette of Turner; a brother, Robert Purington of Poland; a brother-in-law, Robert Gallant of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many very dear friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Aubin; and two daughters, Charlene Gallant and Cathleen Duchette.

Her cup truly runneth over with love. She will be dearly missed by so many. Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Becky, Jerry, Nicole and Mary Sue for the love and friendship they brought to her and our family, and to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the Hospice House in Auburn. You truly are all angels.
