HARRISON — The first tour of the season at the historic 1847 Scribner’s Sawmill and homestead site will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, on Scribner’s Mill Road.

Besides learning the history of the mill, visitors will be able to watch dry barrel parts being manufactured using early 19th century machinery. In the cooper shop, visitors will have an opportunity to help assemble a barrel.

Across the street from the mill is the Scribner Homestead. Built in 1849, it was the home for five generations of the Scribner family and is interpreted as it appeared in the 1920s. The homestead holds many original Scribner furnishings.

The site includes the barn, ice house and blacksmith shop. It holds a large collection of antique mill equipment.

A minimum donation of $5 is requested per adult. All funds are used for the continued restoration of the site.
