For vicarious travels through time by reading 16,630 books in five months, 111 Poland Community School students were awarded gold medals and certificates at a recent ceremony in the gym. To complete the course in extra-curricular reading, students had to read 15 books or 2,400 pages, enabling them to move their markers on a chart through eight different past time periods. Six pupils made the backward travels twice, and three read three times the minimum recognition requirement.
