RUMFORD — American Legion Post 24 has announced its selection for the 69th American Legion Dirigo Boys State at Thomas College in Waterville from June 19 to 23.

Selected are John Pepin, Jon Adley, Jacob Beauchesne, Andrew Arsenault, Travis Palmer, Steve Nokes and Jesse Pelletier.

Boys State is a one-week intensive educational program of government instruction for high school students. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government.

Participants are exposed to the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of franchised citizens. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices.

Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, band, chorus and recreational programs.

High school juniors are selected by local American Legion posts.
