Police, fire rescue hosting barbecue

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department and Farmington Fire & Rescue are hosting a community fundraising barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 30, at the Farmington Municipal Building, 153 Farmington Falls Road.

The event is being sponsored with assistance from the Farmington American Legion. All proceeds benefit the Lone Survivor Foundation.

For a donation, attendees can purchase one hamburger, one hot dog, one bag of chips and one can of soda. There will also be a performance by local country artist Mark Gentle.

Sumner library summer hours

SUMNER — The Increase Robinson Library in East Sumner Village will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the summer beginning Thursday, June 2.

There are research materials, a museum and a lending section in the library.

Yard and plant sale in Farmington

FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will hold a yard and plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, at 227 Main St.

Proceeds benefit the church’s community service, outreach and youth programs.

Featured items include books, CDs, cassettes, children’s items, Christmas decorations, tools and garden items, furniture, housewares, arts and crafts and sporting equipment.

Plant sale will include perennials, biennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs and house plants.

Yard, bake sale in Farmington

FARMINGTON — Orchard Park and Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center will host a yard sale on Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, at 221 Fairbanks Road.

Proceeds will benefit the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Donated items are welcome and may be brought to the Edgewood shed Monday through Friday. Baked items should be brought the day of the sale.

John Orestis of North Country Associates will match any donation dollar-for-dollar made by any North Country facility to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Sumner Fire annual sale

SUMNER — The Sumner Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its annual garage, plant and food sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the fire station on Route 219. 

There will be refreshments on sale, a door prize and raffles. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or $5 for six tickets. 

Donations are being accepted for the sale by contacting 207-674-5522.

All proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department.

Craft fair, petting zoo

RUMFORD — The Rumford Grange will hold its spring craft fair on Saturday, June 4, at Rumford Center Grange Hall.

The event is in conjunction with the Petting Zoo. Lunch will be available.

New Vineyard plant, bake sale

NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard Public Library will hold its annual flower, vegetable and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Smith Hall on Main Street.

Lilies from the noted Vienna gardens of Helen Wilkey will be featured.

Those attending can stock up on cookies, pies and candies prepared by local cooks.

All proceeds benefit the library.

Museum addition dedication June 4

PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society’s museum addition will be dedicated at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at 77 High St.

There will be greetings from the officers, and the keynote speaker will be interim Town Manager H. Sawin Millett. Following the presentation, refreshments will be served.

The ceremony and museum are open to the public. Parking is available in front of the museum or in the parking lot behind.
