LISBON — Wildlife biologist Ben Nugent will lead a trail walk on Saturday, June 4, in celebration of National Great Outdoors Month and National Trails Day.

The program begins at 9 a.m. at Verla’s Lodge at the entrance of Beaver Park, 37 Cotton Road.

Nugent will take participants through the park trails. He will point out plants and trees, identify birds and bird calls as well as any wildlife that may be seen. Forest edibles will be identified and samples brought back to the lodge, where participants can make and enjoy their own herbal tea while asking questions and discussing the walk.

Those attending are encouraged to bring binoculars for birding and to dress for the weather. The walk will be canceled only if there is heavy rain and lightning.

The program is free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
