LIVERMORE FALLS — Amedee A. Maurais, 83, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, May 25.

He was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Jay, the son of Amedee G. Maurais and Leonie (St. Pierre) Maurais. He was a graduate of Jay High School. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean war.

On May 17, 1958, he married Juliette St. Pierre. He was the former owner and operator of A Maurais & Son Inc. Amedee was an active member of at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay throughout his life serving in several ministries and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the VFW in Jay, American Legion in Livermore Falls, as well as the AMVETS in Jay.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juliette of Livermore Falls; brothers, Gerard Maurais of New York and Bernard Maurais of Oregon; sisters, Aline Bryant of Jay and Rachel Ellis of Oklahoma; sons, Daniel and his wife, Diane, of Livermore, Laurier and his wife, Lori, of Wake Forest, N.C., Richard and his wife, Anne, of Warren, Gerald and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hopedale, Mass., Martin and his partner, Chen Foley, of Bermuda, Philip and his wife, Stacie, of Jay and Nathan and his wife, Melissa, of Windham; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Henri and Jean Paul Maurais; sisters, Marcelle Kendall, Germaine Swensen and Adrienne Kelley.
