PORTLAND — Bishop Robert P. Deeley has announced new local priest assignments.
Effective July 1, the Rev. Paul H. Dumais is appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Farmington and St. Rose Lima Parish in Jay.
A native of Madawaska, Dumais attended Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology. He attended St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Mass., in 1999. While in residence, he completed his academic preparation for ordination with a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in theology, in addition to earning an Master of Arts in philosophy from Boston College.
He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Richard J. Malone on May 29, 2004, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska. Upon his ordination, Dumais served at parishes in Waterville, Winslow, Oakland, Fairfield and Vassalboro. In 2007, Dumais was assigned to Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, during which time he also served as the Catholic chaplain at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham. Since December 2014, Dumais has served as chaplain at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, St. Mary’s Residence and Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Effective July 1, the Rev. Dominic Savio, HGN, is appointed lead priest-chaplain at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, St. Mary’s Residence and Central Maine Medical Center.
Since September 2013, Savio has served as parochial vicar at Corpus Christi Parish. A native of Tamil Nadu, India, he joined the Heralds of Good News, a missionary society of apostolic life, in 1994. After nine years of seminary formation, Savio was ordained to the priesthood on Dec. 29, 2003. From January 2004 to May 2008, Savio served as parochial vicar at St. Anthony’s Shrine in the Diocese of Madras-Mylapore in Tamil Nadu. From June 2008 to March 2013, he served as principal at the Good News School in the Diocese of Guntur, Andra Pradesh, India. In April 2013, Savio arrived in the Diocese of Portland and received his first assignment at Corpus Christi Parish, where he currently serves.
