‘Mornings at the Museum’

BETHEL — Bethel Historical Society is offering “Mornings at the Museum,” a new series of activities for children ages 6 to 11. The program takes place Thursdays in July from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 10 Broad St.

Participants will rotate through stations focused on hands-on historical experiences. Likely activities include weaving a cloth potholder, gravestone rubbings, old-time games, a “young person’s” tour of the 1813 Dr. Moses Mason House, learning about special plantings in the garden, drawing water from the well for washing, bathing and watering plants, trying on period clothing, and exploring devices from “back in the day” such as manual typewriters, dial phones, stereoscopes and non-electric irons.

A parent or guardian is required to remain on the grounds while the program is in session. Scheduling is weather-dependent.
