Thirteen members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Livermore Falls Women’s Club attended the annual spring convention in South Portland from May 11 to 13.

The theme, “Our Past Will Determine Our Future,” was displayed on the program material, featuring watercolor art designed by Barbara Hathaway of Wilton.

Committee chairs reported on the achievements of their respective committees. Clubs were awarded certificates for participation in various projects. The Livermore Falls club received three awards: one for conservation, one for work done on domestic violence awareness and one for the president’s special project, elder abuse awareness.

High school students throughout the state were asked to write an essay on what elder abuse means to them. The winner, to be announced on June 15, will receive a scholarship.

Entertainment was provided by John McDonald, professional storyteller. After the business meeting, the 2016-18 officers were installed.
