LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will visit the Maine Art Glass Studio and Butterfly & Insect Museum on Wednesday, June 8.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the MTM Center on 18 School St. in Lisbon Falls.
Jim Nutting, director of the museum and studio, will give an introductory talk. The group will then walk to the museum and tour the collection of butterflies and insects on display in stained glass cases fashioned by Nutting.
Nutting has been collecting butterflies and insects since age 5, and has amassed a collection of rare specimens. Attendees will also see the stained glass workshop in the lower level of the building. All of the components for creating stained glass objects are found here and used by Nutting’s classes in stained glass art. Glass is stocked here by color along with all of the tools for repairing antique stained glass windows and for creating new works of glass art.
At the end of the tour, the group will return to the Historical Society archive room in the MTM Center for refreshments.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the MTM building.
