Free fishing this weekend

AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife will offer a free fishing weekend on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5.

Any person may fish for free on Maine’s waterways without a license, except those who have had theirs suspended or revoked.

All other rules and regulations, including bag and possession limits, apply.

Dempsey Challenge paint night

AUBURN — There will be a paint night to support Dempsey Challenge Team Mustang at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Central Maine Community College.

The team will be walking, running and/or cycling in the challenge on Oct. 1 and 2 to support The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.

The painting will be “Swirly Birds on a Wire,” two lovebirds in silhouette with a background of bright swirls of yellows, reds, blues and greens. This is an all-ages event and no experience or skill is needed to make this colorful 16 by 20-inch painting. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
