1941 – 2016
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Louise A. Willauer, 74, of Lewiston passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, April 22, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.
She was born in Lewiston on July 6, 1941, a daughter of the late Henry Leo Faucher and Jeannette (St. Pierre) Faucher. Louise earned her registered nursing degree at the University of Maine in 1963. She married Eliot B. Willauer Jr. of Westport, Conn., on Nov. 22, 1963, at the majestic Catholic Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.
Her nursing career spanned 40 years, while caring for her two children, along with managing an ever-changing household due to her husband’s Air Force career demands. She worked at various hospitals, private duty nursing, and most recently, she worked as a case manager at Western Area Agency on Aging in Lewiston from 1988 to 1998, and also as a nurse and caregiver with Agency on Aging — Area 4, in Sacramento, Calif., from 2000 to 2002. Her most rewarding years were working as a private duty hospice nurse in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She enjoyed caring for others, spending time with the elderly, providing companionship, and comfort care with dignity.
A soft-spoken, kind and loving mother, she enjoyed time with family, listening to music. She was partial to Elvis, loved country dancing, the serenity from camping outdoors, the beauty of Maine’s four seasons and the wonderful sounds of wild birds chirping about. Louise moved to sunny California in 2000, to live near her daughter and son-in-law and their large family, where she spent her remaining years.
She is survived by her children, Julie Anne Saturnio and her husband, Conrad and Eliot Butler Willauer III and his wife, Lisa; her three grandchildren, Easter and Tanya Saturnio and Rebecca Hilton; and two sisters, Diane Roderick and Celeste Crowley.
