SABATTUS — Graveside committal services honoring the life of Walter L. Wood were held Thursday, June 2, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Stewart presiding.
During the service family friend, Randy Corey sang, “Old Rugged Cross.” Walter’s daughter, Karen Griffin said a eulogy in remembrance of her father. Walter’s wife, Joan also shared words of remembrance. Walter’s granddaughter, Shelby Wood recited the poem, “Do Not Grieve for Me.” Other family and friends in attendance also shared their personal memories of Walter.
The U.S. Army honor detail then played “taps” folded and presented our country’s flag to Walter’s wife, Joan, in appreciation of her husband’s service to his country during the Korean Conflict.
Following the Rev. Stewart’s benediction, all in attendance were invited to join Walter’s family for a reception of fellowship at the Webster Masonic Hall in Wales.
