TURNER — Robert Russell Morrell, 68, of Turner passed away peacefully Friday evening, June 3, surrounded by family.

“Bob,” as he was called by those who knew him, was an accomplished and respected sportsman who proudly served his country as a decorated U.S. Marine lance corporal during the Vietnam War.

Bob was a lifelong truck driver with almost as many awards for his skills behind the wheel as miles he logged in his career. He had endless, colorful stories of his life growing up on his parents’ farm, where he got his love and skill of gardening, his adventures on the road, and his most favorite kinds of tales, those of “the big one,” as he fished and hunted his way through the wilds of Maine. Bob always had a smile and a listening ear, and sound advice and a guiding hand for his friends and family and was beloved by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Diana Morrell; his mother, Patricia Morrell; two brothers, Raymond and Warren Morrell; three sisters, Kathleen McGuire, June VanMourik and Ruth Morrell; three children, Hope (Del) Dunn, Megan Morrell and Adam Morrell; three stepchildren, Chris Reynolds, Casey Reynolds and Chantal (Ray) St. Laurent; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several lifelong friends who were very near and dear to his heart.
