1935 – 2016

AUBURN — Roger M. Morin, 80, of Lewiston passed away Tuesday morning, June 7, at the Hospice House, with the love of his life at his side.

He was born in Lewiston, Aug. 30, 1935, one of five children born to Romeo and Ida (Foley) Morin. Roger was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. Roger was a military veteran, he enlisted in 1958 and served his country in active duty with the U.S. Army, as well as the Army National Guard of Maine, until his honorable discharge in 1964.

On April 11, 1959, he married the former Therese Savard and together they settled in Lewiston to raise their family. Roger worked 20 years for Polar Paints, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and went fishing with his boys and also followed the sport of NASCAR racing and loved to watch Red Sox games with his wife.

For many years, he took annual trips to attend the NASCAR races in New Hampshire with his son, Dan. But his greatest joy, by far, was spending enjoyable family times with his wife, children and grandchildren especially the family cookouts, including red hot dogs on the grill. Roger was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his wife, Therese Morin of Lewiston; his daughter, Sandy Chabot and husband, Raymond, of Lewiston; two sons, Danny Morin of Minot and Steven Morin and wife, Denise, of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Jason Chabot and wife, Roxanne, Todd Morin, Stacie Chabot and boyfriend, Corey Plesz, Greg Morin and fiancée, Taylor Freeman, Specialist Nathan Morin and wife, Stephanie, and Sabrina Dufresne and husband, Corporal Colby Dufresne; three great-grandchildren, Cora Chabot, Lilliana Dufresne and Dustin Wing; two sisters, Priscilla Morin of Connecticut, Muriel Lepage and husband, Raymond, also of Connecticut; a brother, Gerard Morin and wife, Doris of Lewiston, a sister-in-law, Bernadette Monegain; a special niece, Kristie Sivells and husband, Derek, and their two daughters, Megan and Nicole Sivells; as well as several nieces and nephews.
