RANGELEY — Police said a Rangeley Plantation woman was injured Friday night when she lost control of her motorcycle on Route 4 in the vicinity of Mingo Loop Road.

Lauren Singer, 19, fell off her motorcycle and hit her head on the pavement, Police Chief Russell French said Monday. A passerby found her in the road. It was reported she had possible head injuries and leg lacerations, he said.

Singer was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, French said. It was unclear Monday afternoon if she was still at CMMC.

Sgt. Jared Austin responded to the crash at about 7:36 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.

A helmet was found at the scene but police are not sure if Singer was wearing it or if it was attached to her bike.

Rangeley Fire Rescue Department along with NorthStar EMS ambulance assisted at the scene. A landing zone was set up at a ball park in Strong for a LifeFlight medical helicopter.

The 2008 Yamaha motorcycle received minor damage, French said.
