SOUTH PARIS — Merton W. Knightly, 65, of South Paris died Sunday, June 12, surrounded by family and friends.
Mert was born in Norway, March 23, 1951, the son of Maurice and Barbara Bonney Knightly. He worked for the family business, Knightly Oil Co. He worked for many different paving and construction companies. He also worked in the woods and was a professional truck driver.
Mert enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as camping, fishing, hunting, etc. Merton was a social man, always surrounded by lots of family and friends.
Merton is survived by his mother, Barbara (Bonney) Knightly of South Paris; daughters, Brenda Bisson and husband, Philippe, of Sabattus and grandchildren, Jeff Hurst and Alicia Jordan, and Mary Winslow and husband, Myron and grandson, Hunter, of Bryant Pond; his brother, William Bonney and wife, Norma Jean, of Brownsville, Ky.; his sister, Brenda Heaward of Oxford; many nephews and nieces; and his beloved dog, Sadie.
