1938 – 2016

NEW GLOUCESTER — Dorothy Clark Treadwell, 78, died peacefully at home in New Gloucester on Sunday, June 12, from Alzheimer’s disease.

Mom was born on Jan. 13, 1938, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Olehowski Clark of Auburn. She spent her childhood in Auburn and was a graduate of Edward Little High School. On Aug. 24, 1957, she married Al Treadwell of Minot. Together they spent a brief time living in Aroostook County, eventually settling in New Gloucester where they raised three children and lived happily for 55 years.

Mom loved bird watching, walking, working in her gardens, baking, tole painting, spending summers at camp in Monmouth and watching her children and grandchildren grow.

Mom is survived by her husband, Alwyn Treadwell of New Gloucester; her children, Laurie Treadwell of Bridgton, Sheila Cobb and Erik Andersson of Auburn, Jeff Treadwell of Falmouth; brothers, Tom and Janice Clark of Auburn, Raymond and Betty Clark of Lewiston, Robert Clark of Auburn, and Peter and Donna Clark of Leeds; sisters, Pauline and John Freitas of Auburn, Mary Jane and Mac Anderson of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., Janice and Steve Felenczak of Clemmons, N.C., and Nancy Clark of Clemmons, N.C.; grandchildren, Jenna Parlin, Emily and Abby Cobb, Jackson and Julia Treadwell; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Austin Rossi.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary Clark; daughter-in-law, Deb Treadwell; sister, Judy McGrath; and brother, Richard Clark.
