FRYEBURG — Peter Arthur Perley of Norway died peacefully Monday, June 13, at Fryeburg Health Care Center after being a hospice patient there for four weeks.
He was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Beverly, Mass., to Daniel and Jeannette Perley. Peter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked as a firefighter for the town of Hamilton, Mass. He retired to Maine in 1992 to enjoy his favorite activities of hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and ATVing, as well as traveling the state of Maine and other states to pursue these.
He belonged to the Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association, the Trackers snowmobile and ATV clubs. Traveling with his boat to all area lakes to fish, he also enjoyed saltwater smelt fishing and working at the annual fishing derby sponsored by the fish and game. He took great pleasure in visits with his nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and going fishing and camping in their early years.
He is survived by his nephews, Tom Perley and Sumner Delaney; his nieces, Jeannine, Maggie and Cassie Delaney; and his sister-in-law, Jeannine Perley.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, David.
