WATERFORD — Socrates Cafe meets Monday, July 11 (not on July 4) at the Waterford Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The discussion topic will be “80/80 Visions: Contrast American life 80 years ago with today and contemplate what it may be 80 years from now. Historical Societies
PARIS — The Paris Hill Historical Society has begun its summer hours, and is open on Wednesdays, from 1 – 4 p.m. Their summer theme is “The Games People Play” and displays include games and pastimes that will bring back childhood memories.
The display contains a Parlor Bagatelle from the 1800s (an early pinball machine), an old croquet set and many board games. Did you play Mahjong, Twister, Dragnet, or piece together a wooden puzzle by Roland Chesley of Buckfield? Stop by 48 Tremont Street some Wednesday afternoon to remember the good old days.
HARRISON — The Harrison Historical Society will meet July 6, at 6:30 p.m., at the church parking lot. The program is a House Tour. If you would like to be a surprise guest at someone’s home and have a very interesting and enjoyable evening, come join us.

PARIS — The Christian Women United luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, at the First Congregational Church in South Paris. Following the luncheon, Sarah Porter, a classically trained singer, will sing. The cost for the luncheon is $8. A free will offering will be taken. PARIS — Floyd A. Harlow Jr. VFW Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. on July 6, at the Post home, 58 East Main Street in South Paris.
Bethel Seniors
BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet July 13 at Crosstone Restaurant, Route 26 in Woodstock, for their meeting and dinner. Meeting starts at 11 a.m. Menu is fish or chicken. Reservations must be made before July 1 by calling Arlene Lowell at 824-2877 with your choice. Price is $10.

STONEHAM — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19, held their monthly meeting on May 26 at the home of Marilyn Jones in Norway.
A memorial service was conducted for the tent’s deceased members.
There will be no meeting in June.
The convention will be held Friday, June 24, in Waterville.
The next regular meeting will be Thursday, July 28, place to be announced later.
