TOGUS — Charles James Greenwood Jr., 76, of Farmington died Friday morning, June 17, at the Veterans’ Hospital in Togus with loving family by his side.

He was born Dec. 3, 1939, in Woburn, Mass., the son of Charles J. and Lorraine (Vigneau) Greenwood Sr. Charles received his education in Deerfield, N.H., schools and joined the National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, many of those years during the Vietnam War.

On June 10, 1961, Charles married Irene Paquin in Manchester, N.H. He worked in the Corrections Department in Goffstown and Manchester, N.H., and later worked as a deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

He was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post and the Farmington Elks Lodge 2430. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and in his free time enjoyed watching WWE. He will be remembered for his caring, happy and easygoing manner.

He is loved by his wife of 55 years, Irene, of Farmington; daughter, Donna Parenteau (Roger) of Dunbarton, N.H.; sons, Kevin Greenwood of Farmington and James Greenwood (Melissa) of Hooksett, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; six brothers, Al of Phillips, William (Sue) of Lewiston, Daniel, Frederick (Sandy) and Michael, (Christine) all of Manchester, N.H., and George of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Lorraine Levesque (Gerry) and Judy Allaire (Bruce) of Manchester, N.H.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Philip.
