1932 – 2016

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Lawrence Arthur Griffin, 83, of Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Lewiston, passed away Monday, May 30, with his wife of 56 years, Norma Jean, by his side.

Lawrence was born in Lewiston on July 9, 1932.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert R. Gravel; his mother, Zella Mae Mower; his brothers, Edward Griffin, Vernon Griffin, Albert Gravel, Norman Gravel and Robert Gravel.

Larry was a professional boxer in his early life and won multiple New England light and welter weight

bouts from 1948 to 1957.

He was a Santa Rosa, Calif., resident for more than 60 years and operated Rocky’s Pizza there in the early 1960s.

He is survived by his wife; his sister, Carmen McDonald; brother, Ronald Gravel; his children, Linda White Bear, Candice Heydon, and Kelley Devereaux. He will also be missed by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
