On the lookout for turtles
NORWAY — The Western Foothills Land Trust will lead a guided paddle on Hobbs Pond from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 26, at the boat landing on Route 118.
Kelly Hodgkins will lead the flotilla for a quiet exploration of the more popular turtle hangouts on the pond.
Those attending should bring canoes or kayaks and personal flotation devices.
Food program at Community Concepts
PARIS — Community Concepts Inc., 17 Market Square, is participating in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals are available at no charge to all enrolled participants.

Children could win e-reader
STRONG — Strong Public Library is giving patrons ages 12 to 18 a chance to win a Kindle Fire e-reader.
Those interested must register by July 7. As the patrons check out books and read this summer, they will qualify for the drawing, which is on Aug. 25. The winner does not have to be present to win.
Each time these patrons visit the library and hand in a brief form showing pages read, their names will be entered. Registration forms and other paperwork are available at the library.
Bethel Seniors to meet
BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will have a meeting and dinner at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Crosstone Restaurant, Route 26, Woodstock.
The menu is fish or chicken, and the price is $10. Reservations must be made before July 1.

Town picnic in Madrid
MADRID — The Madrid Historical Society will host the town’s annual picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 2, in “Bud’s Field” on Reeds Mill Road.
Signs will direct people to the picnic. All residents and landowners in Madrid are welcome to attend, along with their families and friends.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and place settings will be provided. Participants should bring a dish to share and a beverage.

Firemen’s Field Day July 2
WELD — Firemen’s Field Day will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the municipal garage.
A chicken barbecue will be held at 5 p.m. until sold out.
Boat parade on Clearwater Lake
INDUSTRY — The annual Clearwater Lake Boat Parade will be held at dusk on Saturday, July 2. Those participating should meet at the head of the lake.
