1951 – 2016
LEWISTON — Jay Siegel, 65, of Guilford, Conn., and formerly of Lewiston, passed away Thursday morning, June 23, at Marshwood Health Care facility after a long illness.
Jay was a long time English teacher and tennis coach at Oak Hill High School in Sabattus. He was a huge Boston Celtics fan and also enjoyed playing Scrabble, poker and tennis with friends, visiting Mohegan Sun, and was an avid reader as well. He was blessed later in life with a beautiful daughter, Melanie, who brought him so much joy over the past 11 years.
Jay is survived by his daughter, Melanie Siegel, of Guilford, Conn.; brother, Neil Siegel of Pittsfield, Mass.; brother, Howard Siegel and his wife, Betty, of Mechanic Falls; niece, Laura Roy and her partner, Tom, and her daughter, Chelsea; niece, Carrie White and her husband, Dominique, and children, Izaac and Joshua; and niece, Lara Denmark and her husband, Jonathan, and children, Levi and Noah.
Jay was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Sylvia Siegel.
The family would like to thank the staff on the M-1 ward at Central Maine Medical Center, Dr. Rausch and his team, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, and the staff at Marshwood Nursing Home for the care and support shown to Jay and his family during his final months.
