1930 – 2016
WINDHAM — Joseph F. Kiley Jr., 85, of Bolsters Mills passed away on Wednesday, June 22, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born on July 21, 1930, in Newark, N.J.. He was the son of the late Joseph F. Kiley and Sarah Mildred (Eulas) Kiley. He married Eileen Mary Streblow in Amsterdam, N.Y., in 1952, and they became the proud parents of five daughters. Joe carried on the family tradition of working in the insurance industry and he retired from a career with Prudential Insurance Company.
Our father was extremely civic minded. He began with the Kiwanis Club and went on to become a member of various boards, organizations and committees. He enjoyed the work of enhancing the communities he lived in. With an avid love of education, for 65 years Joe remained the Alumni Representative for his class at Blair Academy, his cherished high school. Dad lived life to the fullest and had many interests with football topping the list. When he and Eileen retired to Maine he became a prominent member of the Thompson Lake Environmental Association, working to preserve the pristine quality of the lake for future generations.
As a husband and father there was no priority in his life more important than his family. He was happiest visiting with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, three siblings and their families. He walked through life with courage, strength, kindness and humor. All lives he touched were bettered by having known him. He will be in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his five daughters and his sons-in-law, Karen and Leon Kistler, Theresa Kiley, Jeanne Beideman, Kathleen and Larry Clements and Mary-Jo and Jack Widmann; along with his grandchildren, Shaun and Stacy, Shannon and Josh, Craig and Jenn, Carl, Kristen and Brian, Jason, Eric and Melissa, Zachary, Deven, Brandice; and four great-grandchildren.
Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.oxfordhillsfuneralservices.com.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen S. Kiley.
