Veteran short track driver Gary Smith of Bangor powered past Scott Moore to claim his first career Super Late Model victory Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway. Smith was the ninth different driver to win a feature in Oxford’s premier class this season.

Rookie sensation Josh Childs of Oxford led several laps in the 50-lap contest before Hebron veteran Alan Wilson took over the point. Moore manged to wrestle the lead from Wilson before Smith took command.

Recent winner Adam Polvinen crossed the stripe in second, while Scott Robbins backed up his win the previous week with a solid third-place finish. Moore and Wilson completed the top five.

Matt Dufault charged from the back to the front twice to notch his second Street Stock victory of 2016. The Turner native was bumped out of contention early on before making an impressive charge back through the field.

David Whittier of Poland wheeled his Camaro to runner-up honors after leading much of the feature. Zach Emerson came across in third, while Andrew Breton and Calvin Rose Jr. finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Mechanic Falls-based driver Josh Knoll worked his way through traffic to claim the Bandit feature. Point leader Jamie Heath made a charge through the field to claim second, while Tyler Green of Turner filled out the podium in third. Michael McKinney’s long haul from Berlin, New Hampshire was worthwhile with a fourth-place run, while Waterford’s Bill Grover finished fifth.

Ageless veteran David Smith of South Paris notched his first Figure 8 victory in a long while Saturday evening. Smith outgunned Lewiston’s Jon Lizotte for top honors, while last week’s winner Eric Hodgkins came home third in the 15-lap tilt. Kyle Kilgore of South Paris had a solid fourth-place finish, while Lisbon’s Robert Morey wheeled his machine to fifth.

Duane Skofield, of Plaistow, New Hampshire, took the lead from his nephew and defending champion, Eric Skofield, and powered his way to victory in a 20-lap battle for the visiting Northeast Classic Lites. Fellow Granite State native Sam Gilman earned third-place honors, while Dan Poloquin and Tom Harton finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Collins picks up Late Model win at Wiscasset

Will Collins of Waldoboro drove to victory in Saturday night’s Late Model Sportsman feature at Wiscasset Speedway. Collins outgunned Richmond’s Nate Tribbett for top honors, while Chris Thorne of Sidney filled out the podium in third. Harrington-based driver Andrew McLaughlin came home in fourth, with hometown veteran Chuck Colby completing the top five.

Montville’s Bryan Robbins prevailed in a hotly-contested Spotlight feature for the Strictly Street teams. Kimberly Knight of Chesterville gave chase throughout yet settled for second, while Leeds veteran Kurt Hewins took third. Maurice Young of Chelsea came home fourth, with Thomaston’s Ryan Ripley securing fifth.

Veteran Nick Reno of West Bath held off a hard-charging Adam Chadbourne to earn top honors in a 30-lap tilt for the NAPA Modifieds. Mark Lucas secured a solid third-place run, while Dresden’s Allan Moeller and Freeport’s Jariet Harrison finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Old Orchard’s Kevin Girard Jr. powered his way to victory in an exciting 25-lap battle for the NELCAR Legends. Buckfield veteran Chris Burgess chased the leader throughout yet settled for second, while Bobby Weymouth of Topsham finished third. Austin Teras of Windham came home in fourth, with Lincolnville’s Alan Smith close behind in fifth.

Zack Audet of Skowhegan prevailed in Saturday’s 25-lap tilt for the Outlaw Mini’s. Audet held off Augusta’s Shawn Kimball, while Rockin’ Rob Greenleaf of Bath finished third. Farmington’s Tim Collins and Cody Tribbet of Richmond rounded out the top five.

Doiron claims Pro Series 125 at Beech Ridge

For the second straight year, Berwick’s Joey Doiron claimed the Pro Series 125 Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Doiron grabbed the lead on a lap-13 restart and stayed in command until the checkered flag waved.

Doiron held nearly a full straightaway lead at one point before lapped traffic allowed his pursuers to close in. Veteran Curtis Gerry of Waterboro came home second, while reigning track champion Reid Lanpher finished third. Hometown favorite Robbie Harrison was more than five seconds behind Doiron in fourth, while veteran Danny Bubar was fifth.

Frank Wear of Buxton won the 35-lap tilt for Sport Series competitors. Beverly, Massachusetts-based driver Gary Modugno was just a tick back in second, while weekly strongman Ryan Villacci finished right on his bumper in third. Tom Bennett of Windham and Beech Ridge veteran Donnie Morse completed the top five.

Top-tier class Pro Series teams weren’t the only ones running extra distance, as the Wildcats capped a full night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. Adam Lovejoy notched a hard-fough victory after early leader Brian Caswell suffered mechanical failure. Ryan Hewins inherited the lead briefly and finished second, while Lewis Anderson took third. Travis Lovejoy and Chaz Briggs were fourth and fifth respectively.

Squeglia notches first PASS win at Lee USA

In what was arguably the biggest surprise of the weekend on the regional racing scene, Derry, New Hampshire driver Joe Squeglia overpowered the best Super Late Model drivers in New England to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North 150 Friday evening at Lee USA Speedway.

Squeglia outgunned two-time Oxford 250 winner and front row starter Eddie MacDonald for the early lead, battled series regular Bryan Kruczek through the mid-stages of the race and held off Morrill’s Travis Benjamin to earn his first career PASS victory. Hermon’s Mike Hopkins claimed third at the finish, while Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and Kruczek rounded out the top five.
