Summer reading at Lisbon Library

LISBON — The Lisbon Library is still accepting registrations for its 2016 Summer Reading Program.

This year’s theme is On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!

The library offers free summer reading events to children who are entering grades kindergarten through 12 this fall, and who live in Lisbon, Lisbon Falls or have a nonresident patron card.

Programs include crafts, activities, science displays and reading challenges. Programs will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

Cafe staff lead cooking class 

LEWISTON — Restaurant staff at The Ark & Olive Branch Cafe will hold a heart-healthy cooking class and demonstration at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at 791 Lisbon St.

Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on School Street.

The gathering will be followed by a potluck lunch. 

All interested widows in the area may attend. The group meets the first Monday of the month unless there is a holiday, and then the meeting will be held the first Tuesday or second Monday.

Humane Society summer raffle winners

LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society has announced the winners of its annual summer raffle.

The winners were Judy Fowler of Lisbon Falls, $500; Carole Bradbury of Auburn, $300; Mary Taylor of Auburn, $200; and Carolyn Henry of Auburn, $100. 

The raffle made more than $7,400 in tickets sales, and all proceeds will directly benefit the Humane Society.
