AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced the teen programming for summer. 

Friday @ the Movies: 3 to 5 p.m. Fridays, July 1 and Aug. 5, in the Androscoggin Community Room. With 2016 bringing the Summer Olympics, summer movies will feature athletes. The schedule is as follows:

• July 1: “Radio,” rated PG, is the story of a high school football coach and the developmentally challenged man whom he took under his wing.

• Aug. 5: “A League of their Own,” rated PG, is the story of two sisters who join the first female professional baseball team.

Teens! Mind & Body Wellness: Step Count Challenge: Sunday, July 3 to Saturday, July 30. Teens may check out a pedometer and pick up a log sheet to help them keep track of the number of steps they take each week. At the end of the week, they may return them to the Reference Desk on the second floor. The participant with the most steps will win a gift card to Olympia Sports. 

Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, July 6 and Aug. 3, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can drop in to talk about their favorite or least favorite manga, watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing their own characters. This program was made possible by a generous gift of the Procter & Gamble Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Snacks will be provided.

Teens! Q+A with Outright L/A: 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays, July 7, 14, 21, 28 and Aug. 4, 11, and Mondays, July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1 and 8, in either the Community Room or the Conference Room on the ground floor. Again this summer, the Auburn Public Library has partnered with Outright Lewiston/Auburn to offer Queers + Allies, an exciting, youth-driven educational program where LGBTQQAI-identifying students and straight allies can work together to create a positive, fun space.

Q+A will create the opportunity for an open and relaxed atmosphere where teens can share in self-expression, exploration, support and advocacy for political and social change. There will be games, art projects, guest speakers, field trips and more. This program is part of the “Get in the Game: READ!” Summer Reading Program, exploring “Mind & Body Wellness,” and is open to youth ages 13 to 18. 

Teens! Telescope 101: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens may learn how to use the APL telescope and observe the skies. Participants will also be making Star Wheels, which will help in the quest to observe the night sky. Nicole Hastings from Bates College will lead the program.

Teens! Mind & Body Wellness — Pizza & Pages Book Club: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, 29 and Aug. 12, in the conference room. The schedule is as follows:

• July 8: “The Running Dream” by Wendelin van Draanen.

• July 29: “Whale Talk” by Chris Crutcher. The book will be available to lend on July 8.

• Aug. 12: “Heat” by Mike Lupica. The book will be available to lend by July 29.

Teens may sign up online and stop by the Reference Desk on the second floor to pick up a copy of the book. Please note: when signing up, please make sure you can attend the corresponding discussion. 

Teens! SAPARS Summer Movie Series: Tuesdays, July 12, 26 and Aug. 11, in the Androscoggin Community Room. All  movies are rated PG-13. The schedule is as follows:

• July 12: “The Lovely Bones”

• July 26: “Philadelphia”

• Aug. 11: “Mean Girls”

Teens ages 13 to 18 may attend the summer movie series. This summer’s series features movies dealing with various teen issues, including healthy relationships, peer pressure, safety and breaking stereotypes. Snacks are provided. Movies are hosted by Molly of Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services. 

Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, July 13 and Aug. 10, and Fridays, July 29  and Aug. 26, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can enjoy video games and snacks. There is an XBox and Wii along with a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorite games, but only those rated T and E. This program was made possible by donations from the Procter & Gamble Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Safe Voices Drop-In Visit: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, July 14 and Aug. 11, in the Teen Space. Safe Voices will visit the Teen Space to chat about relationships and work on projects.

Teens! Mind & Body Wellness — Journaling Workshop: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, July 14 and 28, in the Teen Space. Teens will take a look at journaling and why keeping a journal might be helpful toward living a healthy lifestyle as part of the summer journey of “Mind & Body Wellness.” The first meeting will discuss why teens journal and look at various journaling styles; the July 28 meeting will offer writing prompts where teens can spend time reflecting and writing.

DIY Teens! Zen Gardens: 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 15, in the Teen Space. Teens may make their own zen garden. For our planning purposes, registration is requested.

Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, July 20 and Aug. 17, in the Conference Room. Teens and new adults, ages 16 to 24, may see if the Job Corps is right for them. Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps will visit to explain how the program works and who is eligible.

Teens! Mind & Body Wellness – An Introduction to Yoga for Teens: 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Mondays, July 25, Aug. 1 and 8, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Continuing with the summer theme of Mind & Body Wellness, Tisha Bremner from Inner Light Yoga of Maine will return for another three-part series, An Introduction to Yoga for Teens. Learning poses, breath techniques and mindful attention practices in a fun and easy way, the class is designed to inspire teens to relieve stress and take good care of themselves. Those participating should wear comfortable clothing in which they can move easily. A healthy snack will be provided at the conclusion of each class. Registration is required.

DIY Teens! Media Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, July 27 and Aug. 24, in the CREATE! Media Lab. If teens can imagine it, they can create it in the Media Lab. Teens can make trailers, podcasts and more that the library can share on the Facebook page and website.

Teens! Get in the Game — READ! Summer Reading Program Finale: 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, in the Androscoggin Community Room. For the close of the 2016 Teen Summer Reading Program, “Get in the Game: READ!” participants will watch some of the Olympic games and make ice cream sundaes. The summer reading program prize winners will be announced.
