FARMINGTON — Police said a surveillance camera helped them catch a handyman taking taking a homeowner’s pain medication.
Alberto Rivera, 33, of Ohio, who is staying in Farmington with relatives, was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of stealing drugs, Farmington Detective Darin Gilbert said.
Rivera was helping a local woman with some work around her home, Gilbert said. The woman and Rivera are not related.
Over about three weeks, the woman noticed her medication was disappearing faster than it should, he said. Gilbert and Deputy Chief Shane Cote installed a surveillance camera in her home and captured Rivera on video taking the drugs, Gilbert said.
Later on Tuesday, Rivera bailed from Franklin County Detention Center on $2,500 cash.
