The Age-Friendly Community Initiative is calling you! We’d really like your help. Two issues noted in our survey last fall were isolation and limited access to information. One way we’re trying to address this is through this column and the related electronic newsletter and printed bulletins.
Help! Got any ideas for people we haven’t yet reached? We’d be happy to add them to our email list – or we can post-mail news to them. Just send along some contact information for:
· seniors in our community who may want to be better in touch with some of our ideas.
· not-yet-seniors in our community who anticipate a future growing old gracefully in the Bethel area.
· local caretakers for seniors in the community.
· out-of-town family members who would like a better handle on what services are in our area.
OR – is there any type of information or news you’d like us to include in our ongoing communications? Send them along!
Here’s a resource we’re working on: the Bethel Library has a growing collection of materials especially for those who are part of the aging population – or those who are caring for loved ones – or those who anticipate staying in this community as they age. Many flyers are there to take, and there are books that may be checked out, some of them gifts from AARP. We welcome donations of unused AARP (or other) magazines or bulletins. And … we welcome anyone to take them from the library collection. FMI on any of the above: Nancy Davis (nancydavis.bethel@gmail.com, 381-1110).
