PORTLAND — Customers of Central Maine Power can expect an increase in their electricity bills.

The rate hike is the result of changes approved by state and federal regulators and it applies to the delivery portion of the bill. A typical homeowner will see the delivery charge increase by seven percent.

Customers will start to see the rate changes on Friday.

The Portland Press Herald reports the rate hike will add $3.12 to an average bill of $78.47. The $3.12 hike is based on 550 kilowatt hours per month using the state’s standard offer service.

Large industrial customers will see a rate hike of 38 percent. Small industrial and commercial businesses will experience a 19 percent increase.
