OXFORD — The Longest Day was celebrated by the Oxford Hills Bridge Club on June 20 at the Oxford Community Center by running three bridge games from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
One hundred and twenty-two players participated.
Lunches were provided by the Lake Store, Ari’s Pizza & Subs, Hannaford and Daddy O’s. Walgreens donated beverages. Supper was pizza prepared by the New Outpost and Polly’s Variety.
Chris Sedenka, head of the Alzheimer’s Association in Scarborough, made a surprise visit during lunch. Sedenka recognized the contribution of the group with a special award for last year’s games.
The club has sponsored this activity to raise money for Alzheimer’s research for four consecutive years, each year bringing in more money than the previous one. This year over $30,000 was raised due to the generosity of local sponsors and the support of many Maine bridge clubs.
