RUMFORD — Twenty-four people ran or walked in the second annual Freedom Color Run 5K at Hosmer Field on Monday.
The overall winner was JT Taylor, with a time of 21:13.2. He was able to finish before youngsters began gathering near the finish line to spray runners with colored powder.
Among the runners were Steven and Rebecca Vennettelli of New Jersey, who took turns pushing a baby carriage with their 10-month-old twins, Nathan and Noah.
Volunteers from the Chisholm Ski Club timed the event.
Following the run, half a dozen youngsters ran a lap around the track, with adults returning the favor by spraying them with the colored powder.
Proceeds from the event, organized by Amanda Hamner, support the Fourth of July Committee’s fireworks.
