LEWISTON – Police on Thursday arrested a local man on charges in connection with an attack on July 4 that left another man with multiple stab wounds.

Police said Kamari Solomon, 18, was arrested about 1 p.m. after a brief foot chase on Main Street. He was charged with elevated aggravated assault and booked at the Androscoggin County Jail on $2,000 cash bail.

Investigators said Solomon was their suspect from the start.

At noon on July 4, police went to the area of 129 Pierce St., where they found 18-year-old Mouamed Mouamed of Lewiston suffering from multiple stab wounds to his lower abdomen and his arms.

Mouamed was taken to Central Maine Medical Center. He has since been released from the hospital.

Police who investigated the attack quickly identified Solomon as their primary suspect, although he was not immediately found.

Meanwhile, they arrested another man, Michael Williams, 25, of Augusta and charged him with falsifying evidence connected to the stabbing.

Williams has since been released from jail.
