Music in the Meeting House was blessed with the talent of Margaret Emery who sang a medley of Gaither hymns, having the congregation join in on the chorus. Join us next week for Paul Bright, guitarist and song writer.
The scripture was 1 John 3:1-10 and the sermon was titled “A Child of God”. There has been a lot of trouble in the world and especially the United States this week. Through all the bad we must remember that God is in charge, we must pray that our leaders know this. As children of God we know that God wins in the end; it says so in the Bible. Satan may not believe it but God will return and send Satan back to the dark place where he belongs. As believers we need to share this with our friends and help those who do not believe come to the Lord so they will be saved and have eternal life with Him.
A little girl, on the way home from church, turned to her mother and said, “Mommy, the preacher’s sermon this morning confused me.” “Oh, why is that?” asked her mother. “Well, he said that God is bigger than we are. Is that true?” “Yes, it’s true.” “He also said that God lives within us. Is that true, too?” “Yes.” “Well,” said the girl, “if God is bigger than us and lives in us, wouldn’t He show through?” If God lives in us, then there’s no way of keeping Him from “showing through.” That’s the essence of being a child of God — living in such a way that people around will see Him in our lives.
