1935 – 2016

WEST PARIS — The Rev. John D. Hosie, 81, of Rumford has gone to be with his Lord on Monday, July 11, at the Ledgeview Living Center, West Paris.

He was born in Rumford on March 17, 1935, and was a son of James and Isabella (McLeod) Hosie. He graduated from Mexico High School, Farmington Teachers College and Columbia Bible College.

John was a teacher in the Mexico school system for more than 21 years and then served in the missionary field in Africa for 21 years and served in the African Inland Mission office until retirement. He was a longtime member of the Mexico First Baptist Church.

A cherished brother and uncle, he will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survivors include sisters, Belle Child and husband, Edwin, of Peru and Frances Gagnon of Dixfield; brothers, Herbert “Bud” Hosie and companion, Maria, of Mexico, Thomas Hosie and wife, Kim, of Dixfield, and Stuart Hosie of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Archie Hosie; brother-in-law, Ray Gagnon; sister-in-law, Dottie Hosie; and niece, Tammy Hosie.
