LEWISTON — A Freedom Rally featuring a car and motorcycle show to raise money for charity will be held Saturday, July 16, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

The daylong rally is being held by Central Maine Defenders, a motorcycle club of current and retired police, military, first responders and “like-minded people,” said member Robert Stevens of Greene.

“This is the first rally,” Stevens said. “We’re making history and trying to make this a yearly event.”

Money raised will benefit Special Olympics, LifeFlight of Maine and the Travis Mills Foundation, Stevens said.

The rally will feature large car and motorcycle shows with more than 32 categories. Car categories will include antique, hot rod and factory stock.

Cars and motorcycles will be evaluated by an out-of-state judge who gives attention to detail, Stevens said.

There will be a $500 prize for first place in the motorcycle and car shows.

At 11 a.m. there will be a large motorcycle ride with motorcycles and riders leaving the Colisee, driving to Route 202 and returning to Lewiston.

Family activities, exhibits and a lobster bake will take place in the afternoon. A concert by Motor Booty Affair begins at 8 p.m.
