Summer food service program meal

LEWISTON — The Lewiston School Nutrition Program will offer a summer food service program meal at no charge to school-age children up to 18. Breakfast and lunch will be served weekdays at three locations: Kennedy Park, Hillview and YWCA.

All meals must be eaten on the site, as participants are not allowed to remove food from the parks or playgrounds.

On rainy days, the children will be served at the Multi-Purpose Center.

YWCA receives discipline grant

LEWISTON — The YWCA has received a $2,000 grant from Maine Initiatives to implement a restorative justice approach to discipline within its childcare program.

Staff from the YWCA will be trained by the Restorative Justice Institute of Maine on restorative approaches to conflict resolution, addressing harm, and advancing youth coping skills and emotional regulation.

Through providing restorative approaches to discipline, the YWCA will strengthen the impact of its youth programming and develop its ability to meet the diverse behavioral needs of the children it serves. 

United New Auburn to meet

AUBURN — The United New Auburn Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Rolly’s Diner.

The speaker will be Auburn police Lt. Harrington.

Sabattus Seniors to meet

SABTTUS — The Sabattus Seniors will hold their annual picnic Thursday, Aug. 4, at Maxwell Gill Hall.

Meal will consist of either lobster roll, chicken salad Sandwich or Italian sandwich, and reservations and meal preference are required by Wednesday, July 27, by calling 207-375-4037.

Helen’s upcoming trips will be an overnight trip to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., Sunday to Monday, Aug. 7 to 8, and a trip to the a clambake in Scarborough Thursday, Aug. 18. Reservations for the trip may be made by contacting 207-375-6588.
